Multimedia Application Over Mobile Ip Networks Computer Science
It is difficult to imagine living in a world without the Internet. Over the past thirty years, the internet has changed the way people work, learn, play and communicate. Multimedia applications for communication have evolved from text-based interaction to using streaming video as a method of interpersonal communication. Internet Protocol based multimedia applications provide several services which include voice, video, instant messaging, file sharing, gaming etc. Behind all the internet communication are people communicating with others, either directly or through some software design. Today, such multimedia applications that provide people with the capability to communicate seamlessly are expanding with the integration of computers and wireless technologies.
Building a full-fledged multimedia application either for personal or commercial purposes is a very complex task in itself. The aim of this project is to understand and explore how a multimedia application can be developed using open source tools available on the internet and it can only be used for educational purpose.
Development of this application has undertaken some research and understanding of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), SDP (Session Description Protocol), RTP (Real Time Protocol), TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol) and JAVA Programming Language.
The test setup framework for this project would consist of 2 client terminals connected to a SIP Registrar Server and exchanging text & media information between each other.Chapter 1Introduction1.1
